Ground Floor, 165 The Strand, Parnell, Auckland 1010
Step into Gardeners Emporium at Residium and look up first. Beautiful moss chandeliers hang above Showroom 105, trailing preserved greenery well past head height, delivering a visual statement in the heart of Section B. Below them the pod is laid out as a paved terrace, with pots standing on it at full size.
Gardeners Emporium curates and makes pieces that bring artistry, form and balance to a space. Founded by Rachel Cameron-Lee, it works across statement pots and urns, water features, preserved moss art and corten and stainless steel sculpture, with custom pieces made to a colour and finish you specify. Everything ships New Zealand wide.
The Gardeners Emporium catalogue says it plainly: because the pots are wood fired, every single item is unique and can vary from the images in the catalogue. So a photograph is an approximation rather than a preview. Scale is the other thing a screen hides, and a pot that looks generous online can arrive too small for the doorway it was meant to flank.
What sits on the terrace changes, but the range it stands for doesn’t. Glazed and unglazed jars in aged stone finishes sit alongside a terracotta urn with applied dragon relief and its pale twin in the same pattern. Then ribbed and wave-textured forms, a hexagonal urn with botanical relief, a white faceted pot, and a red gloss piece that exists to show what a glaze can do. Two Pietro Stoneware boards on the wall carry twelve finish samples each, from terracotta and graphite through to travertine, black and verdigris.
The moss work is the other half of the pod. A framed artwork in olive, lime and white sits on the back wall, next to a mirror planted with moss around its frame. Preserved moss is sustainably harvested and treated with natural ingredients, and it holds its colour and texture for years with no water, no sunlight and no maintenance. That’s the answer for rooms where a living plant would die, which is most internal offices and a good many hallways.
Beyond the pots there are stainless and corten steel sculptures and water features. They’re made by artisans whose installations include luxury hotels, private villas and public developments across the globe. Pietro Stoneware can be ordered in a colour and finish you specify, moss walls are made to your dimensions, and the steel pieces can be fully custom.
Stock items can ship within a week and indent orders take roughly 8 weeks to manufacture, with shipping New Zealand wide. Check out the catalogues on the showroom where every entry carries an order code, measurements, cubic metres, net weight and a minimum order quantity. A freight or access question can be answered off the page rather than chased later. The catalogues in the pod are reference copies rather than giveaways, so take the card from the stand and photograph anything you want to keep.
Luijten Landscaping shares Showroom 105, and its project portfolio is published in collaboration with Gardeners Emporium. A pot you like here can be followed into a finished garden in the same conversation. You can explore Gardeners Emporium 7 days a week at Residium. SEE THE SCALE
Showroom 105 is where scale, glaze and weight get settled together, beyond a photograph alone.
Enquiries: Rachel Cameron-Lee can be reached on 021 297 2641 or at rachel@gardenersemporium.co.nz.
Showroom 105 showcases pots at full size on a paved terrace, which is the only reliable way to judge whether one suits the spot you have in mind.
Tip: Bring the dimensions of your space and a photo of the wall behind it, because wood firing means every pot varies from its catalogue picture.
