Every window and door carries a label with its full specification: colour, hardware, glazing and size. A dedicated hardware wall holds the Urbo, Icon, Miro and Elemental handle ranges alongside Duralloy® Protexture, Duralloy® +Plus, anodised and entrance door colour boards. Comparing finishes at full size and side by side, rather than as small squares on a screen, is the main reason people come in. Take a swatch home as well: APL’s own advice is to view an aluminium colour swatch in natural light before a final decision, because a printed or on-screen colour is only ever a guide.

The showroom also makes the invisible visible, which is the part a website can’t do. A cutaway frame section shows the polyamide thermal break inside a ThermalHeart+® window, the technology that slows heat escaping through the frame, and with it the condensation and mould that follow. A demonstration door opens to reveal APL’s Centrafix® installation method. An interactive temperature display compares standard aluminium, ThermalHeart+® and Klima® uPVC against a simulated cold exterior, so you can see, in degrees, what your joinery choice is worth to a warmer, drier home.
