Residium is New Zealand’s premier design and building centre – open 7 days a week for discovery, inspiration, and hands-on exploration.
Located in Parnell, Auckland, Residium brings together over 40 architecturally designed showrooms under one roof, showcasing the best in interior finishes, architectural products, and building solutions. Spanning 3,500 square metres, our centre offers a tactile, in-person experience—where both professionals and homeowners can see, touch, and compare materials for their next project.

No bookings are required—you’re welcome to visit anytime during our opening hours. If you’re working on a specific project and would like tailored help from a showroom expert, we recommend contacting the relevant exhibitor directly to arrange a meeting.
You’ll find over 40 curated showrooms featuring everything from kitchens and bathrooms to flooring, lighting, hardware, cladding, and more. Each space is designed to inspire and help you explore materials and finishes in person. Our Reception team can help you navigate the centre and point you in the right direction. We also have an extensive brochure library for you to choose from.
Residium is open to everyone—homeowners, renovators, designers, builders, and architects. Whether you’re starting a personal project or sourcing for a client, our showrooms are here to support your journey.

We offer free on-site parking for visitors, available on Level 3 of our building at 165 The Strand, Parnell. Spaces are first come, first served and can fill up on busy days.
Our neighbourhood has good free parking on Gladstone Road, and the St George’s Bay Road area, and there is a Wilson Carpark at 70 The Strand.
Our showroom is fully wheelchair and pushchair accessible.
Registering helps us track showroom visits and provide valuable feedback to the brands featured at Residium. Because most showrooms don’t have a dedicated sales representative onsite, your registration allows us to share insights with our exhibitors—helping them improve their displays, follow up on brochure requests, and better support your design journey. Your details are kept secure and are only shared with the specific brands you engage with.
Yes—many showrooms have brochures, swatches, and take-home materials available. If you’d like something specific, just ask at Reception. We can organise samples to be delivered or collected, or connect you with product experts.
Designers and media partners are able to borrow samples in most cases. Just ask us and we can arrange it.
Some of our showrooms are staffed full-time, while others have representatives onsite at scheduled times throughout the week. Many visitors enjoy the relaxed, no-pressure environment this creates. If you’d like to speak with a specific brand or arrange a consultation, our team is happy to coordinate a meeting, presentation, or showroom tour on your behalf—just ask at Reception or get in touch in advance.
Each showroom has a downloadable Showroom Guide PDF on its page, listing the key products and finishes currently on display. While these guides are regularly updated, displays can change or there can be some delays in getting samples of new products—so if you’re travelling from out of town or making a special trip, we recommend giving us a quick call first to confirm availability. We’re always happy to help you plan your visit.

Residium is proudly located in the heart of Parnell’s design precinct, occupying the entire ground floor of the former Wright, Stephenson & Co Woolstore at 165 The Strand—an iconic building dating back to 1950. Originally opened in 1997 as Home Ideas Auckland, the centre served as a vital hub for homeowners and professionals for over two decades.
In 2023, the Auckland floods caused significant damage, forcing a full re-fit and a 12-month closure. But from disruption came opportunity: the centre reopened in 2024 with a new name and an ambitious new vision. Now known as Residium, it is home to New Zealand’s leading architectural and interior brands, showcased across 3,500m² of immersive, design-led showrooms. Privately owned by Hugh McKellar and supported by a passionate team, Residium continues to be a trusted resource for both industry experts and renovators.
